Wallpaper or paint your bedroom?

Wednesday, December 8th, 2010

Do you wallpaper or paint?  I’m sure that has been a discussion that you and your wife or partner have had when the time has come to redecorate the bedroom.  The woman’s view is to wallpaper but you are thinking of the extra work involved in wallpapering and try to convince her that painting is the best option!!

First thing is to decide the look and feel you both want to achieve.  Generally a calm and relaxed feel will be required as this is a room that you will spend a third of every day in.  Are you keeping your bedroom furniture or replacing it with new?  Home magazines are a good place to look as they can show different looks and tastes for the bedroom.  Many customers visit us a AKKA furniture to view our bedroom furniture so they can visualise the look in their bedroom.  We can put together in our roomset at our warehouse the pieces of furniture you are interested in purchasing to give you a general picture.  We stock a wide selection of wooden beds along with bedside cabinets, wooden chests, wooden dressing tables and wooden wardrobes all available in either american white oak or american black walnut.  So the furniture is chosen, now for the walls! Questions to ask before buying bedroom furniture

Monday, December 6th, 2010

Buying bedroom furniture should not be an impulse decision.  Due consideration of all aspects of your bedroom should be taken into account:

Is the bedroom being used by one person or two?   How many pieces of furniture can I fit in?  What pieces are essential?  Obviously a bed, do I need more than one chest of drawers?  How many wardrobes will I need?  Could some pieces be dual purpose?  If I have a large bedroom, should I go for larger items i.e. a triple wardrobe which may look more in proportion in the room? AKKA Bedroom Furniture and where it’s wood comes from

Monday, November 8th, 2010

At AKKA bedroom furniture we take the responsibilty of using ethical timbers very seriously.  This means that we only use our american timbers that come with a forestry stewardship council stamp.  This will identify that the timber has been sourced from a mill and forest owners that participate in managing it’s forests by re-planting trees after logging has taken place.  This encourages people who live in the poorer parts of the world to see that they can still make money from the trees but also still see their natural habitat not totally disappear around them. Looking at bedroom furniture on the high street

Monday, October 11th, 2010

Call me sad or is it an obsession that I have but I’m always interested in wooden bedroom furniture that is on offer to the public via the high street and internet. Pricing will always be an important part of a customers criteria when they are selecting potential companies who they might want to look at.  Quality of the the products , customer service back-up and does the bedroom furniture come from renewable sources are other considerations that people  make.

Because we at Akka bedroom furniture design, manufacture and sell directly to you the customer we can be very competitive on pricing as we have such low overheads plus when you speak to somebody it is going to be the owners who are answering your questions whatever they are ,  not a sales person.  We believe that it’s important that we try and convey our quality of the comprehensive range we carry in solid oak and walnut through the website so customers can make an informed decision on us. Furniture -Beds

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

Beds have been around since before the Egyptians, who also used the bed as a place where you could eat as well as sleep.

The Romans often decorated their beds in precious metals such as gold and silver.  Mattresses in those days featured materials such as wool, feathers, hay and reeds.

The 18th Century saw a big jump in terms of  sleeping because cotton was used for the mattresses.  This meant that the vermin would not cohabitate your bed!  Iron bedframes became quite popular at this time. (more…)

Contemporary Furniture

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

What is contemporary furniture you may well ask?  The way this can be answered is that the emphasis is on concept and design ideas that can be made into full size furniture.  Contemporary furniture designers have to be able to create new and original designs and techniques to produce a stunning piece of furniture that the buyers of big furniture chains will want to showcase on their shopfloors.  Once this step is made hopefully the public will be seduced into buying the furniture.
