Of course, the size of the room determines which size bed you choose and whether you can fit in cabinets without making the room too cluttered. Monday, February 13th, 2012Valentines Day is here again. The shops are stocked with cards, chocolates and gifts and love but you don’t need to spend loads to keep romance in your home as well as your heart. According to Feng Shui there a few simple rules to follow.
1. Declutter your bedroom. Put away or get rid of unwanted debris, like old make up or read newspapers. Put your clothes away, in a chest of drawers as opposed to the back of the chair or the floor! Get the room clear and the energy will flow.
2 Ring a bell or clap your hands to chase off stale energy to make way for the new.
3 Walk slowly from your front door to your bedroom and be aware of areas where belongings are stopping or slowing the flow of chi, or sending chi to other rooms. Make a path so fresh chi can find its way to your bedroom and nourish your love life. (more…)
Turn back the clocks
Tuesday, November 1st, 2011So the clocks have turned back and we now have one more hour to enjoy in bed. The downside to this is, of course, waking in the dark and the early evenings drawing in. If winter days seem short in Britain then spare a thought for those who live further North. In midwinter around the Arctic Circle, instead of daylight the dark sky is illuminated by the northern lights. The Scandinavians create warmth and light in their homes to compensate for the Artic winters. Scandinavian décor has become very popular lately. The arrival of Autumn
Sunday, October 16th, 2011What a joy it was to have a late burst of sunshine at the beginning of October. It was great to wear summer clothes and feel the sun on our faces. The fiercely hot autumn weather peaked in a new record temperature of 29.4C (that’s 84.92F in old money), on 2 October. This was the hottest temperature recorded in October for 100 years. Now though the sun has definitely dimmed and there is an autumnal air around, with the leaves falling in crisp blue skies. (more…)
